EM-Movimento
Two medical resources translated from English into European Portuguese.
I completed two translations for EM-Movimento. The first scientific article was published after external review and academic supervision. The second translation is complete and awaiting publication.
The translation went through client, peer and academic review.
The work was completed at NOVA FCSH under the supervision of Prof. Ana Brígida Paiva.
A second medical translation is complete and awaiting publication.
01 / Context
The brief.
The collaboration formed part of the Technical and Scientific Translation, English/Portuguese, course in the BA in Translation at NOVA FCSH. The aim was to make scientific information available to readers who do not read English without flattening the terminology or changing the meaning of the source.
02 / Work
Terminology first, then readability.
I worked through the specialised terminology, recurring concepts and scientific register before refining the Portuguese as a complete text. The goal was not to simplify the science, but to make the Portuguese precise and readable at the same time.

Reviewed before publication.
The first translation went through peer review, academic supervision and client review. Each stage gave me another chance to check terminology, clarify the wording and make sure the text still worked in its scientific context.

Published work, with the collaboration documented.
On 21 July 2026, EM-Movimento issued a certificate confirming my collaboration on the ME/CFS article, the work carried out at NOVA FCSH, the academic supervision and the publication of the resource.
Outcome
A second translation followed.
After the first publication, I completed a second medical translation for EM-Movimento. That resource is currently awaiting publication.
